When I started this blog last year, I had no idea it would grow to what it is today. Is there anything that I would go back and do differently? I really don’t know the answer to that, I am really happy with where the blog is right now. And I am really looking forward to seeing where it goes from here. One of the best things about book blogging in my opinion at least is the community. This includes other bloggers, authors, publishers. I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of awesome people in those three groups, and have made several amazing friends through it all.
I didn’t really have a solid plan set out for what I wanted to talk about in this post, the only thing I knew for sure that I wanted to do was talk about some of the awesome blogging friends I have made throughout this first year of blogging. But before I get into that, I just want to say thank you to all of you for reading my blog, and all of the things you do to make this such an awesome experience. It’s all of you that keep me gong and keep everything so enjoyable. So thank you for that.
As I mentioned above, one of the things I wanted to do was talk about the awesome friends I have made throughout this year of blogging. And I really hope you will go check out their blogs, they are all really great people and I am really thankful to be able to call them friends.
Katelyn @ Kate’s Tales of Books and Bands:
Katelyn is easily one of the sweetest people I have ever met. If you haven’t had the opportunity to talk to her before, or see her blog I would suggest that you follow her on Twitter and check out her blog. She is one of the friendliest bloggers out there, you always see her interacting with her readers be it through Twitter or some of the special things she does over on her blog. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Katelyn, while she is an amazing blogger she is an even more amazing person. So I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to get to know her outside of blogging, I found it really funny because back in February she made a post during the Blogger Love-a-thon that she features, and she had mentioned that she thought I might get annoyed with her sometimes, but that is far from the case. I don’t think it’s even possible to get annoyed with Katelyn, haha. She is always so much fun to talk to, and is one of the one of the kindest people you will ever meet. And hopefully next summer we will both be able to go to ALA in Chicago, I know we had talked about it once but it’s still such a long way off. Would be awesome to get to meet her there. Katelyn is definitely one of my closest friends that I've made through blogging.
Katie @ Katie’s Book Blog:
Katie was the person that originally really got me interested in blogging. I had met her through Youtube at first, and then she encouraged me to get into blogging. At the time I was a little hesitant to jump into blogging, but she was awesome about talking me through things and helping me get going. And through all of that she became a great friend of mine. If it wasn’t for all her help, I really don’t know where my blog would be now. One of the things I really like about Katie is that she loves speaking her mind when it comes to things. She really is an awesome blogger and friend though, and I am thankful to have been able to get to know her. I really hope you all will go check out her blog. I’m also really looking forward to hopefully getting the chance to meet her in person next summer at ALA.
Loretta @ Between the Pages:
I've made a lot of awesome friends through this first year of blogging, and I am so sorry if I didn't mention you in this post. You are all amazing, and I am so thankful to have call each and every one of you friends. So please don't thank that I am not thankful to have you as a friend if you don't see your name here. There is just not enough time to include every single person in this post. Please make sure to go check out all of these awesome people I have mentioned in this post. They are all amazing.
I have had such a great time this year getting to meet and work with so many awesome bloggers, authors and publicists. It's just such a great community and I am so glad to be a part of it.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
If you’ve ever talked to Loretta you know how awesome she is. She is probably one of the most fun loving people you will ever meet. I can’t even count all of the fun/awesome chats we have had. She is just always so much fun to talk to. I know she has recently been debating on if she wants to continue blogging or not because of all the stuff she has going on, I would love to see her stay. But I also want to see her be able to do everything else she wants to be able to do and not have to worry about all of the stress and everything that comes with blogging, if that is what she decides to do. I am really thankful to have had the chance to get to know her though. She is such an amazing person.
Melissa @ I Swim for Oceans:
I met Melissa through a blogging program when I first started called Big Sib/Lil Sib which was a program to match up experienced bloggers with new bloggers. I couldn’t of been happier being paired up with her though, she has been so awesome about helping me out with anything I needed help with and has been a great friend.

Lindsay @ Lindsay Writes
Lindsay is amazing, plain and simple. I’ve known her for quite awhile, and I am so happy for her with all the awesome things that have been happening in her life lately. Especially when it comes to her first book getting picked up, which I can’t wait to have the chance to read. She really deserves all the awesome things that have been happening though, and I really hope you all will check out her blog and check out her book “The Murder Complex” once it’s released.

Myranda @ My(reads)da
I've known Myranda for a long time now, she is also one of the bloggers I originally met through Youtube. Since then we've become really awesome friends though. She is really sweet, and I always enjoy getting the chance to talk to her. It's also really awesome because she is a blogger from around the same area as me. There aren't to many bloggers in this section of the country (that I know of) so it's always really awesome to find other bloggers that live really close to me.
Jenny @ Mimosa Stimulus
Jenny is so much fun to talk to, haha. I always enjoy talking to her whenever I get the chance. One of the things she really likes to do is recommend books, she actually led me to make a new shelf on Goodreads because there are so many books she wants me to read. Now I just hope I will be able to get to them all, haha. She is an awesome friend though, and a really nice person once you get to know and talk to her.
Evie @ Evie Bookish
Evie is so sweet, I haven't known her for very long but in the time that I have known her we have become really good friends. She is so nice and a lot of fun to talk to. She also was awesome enough to do this amazing blog design that you see on my blog now. I really hope to get the chance to meet her in person one day, but I am just really thankful to be able to call her a friend. She is such a sweet person, and an awesome blogger to. I would highly suggest checking out her blog.
Kayla @ Bengal Reads
Kayla is the newest blogging friend I have made this year, but she is such a great person. I have really enjoyed talking to her and getting to know her. She is also someone that really enjoys recommending books, and I have got some pretty great recommendations from her that I really need to get around to getting eventually. I look forward to getting to know Kayla more though, she is really sweet.

Now I have some questions for you all, that I would really love for you to answer for me in the comments if you'd like to. I just want to get an idea of what I have done right, and what you would like to see more of.
Questions: (Please answer them in the comments, if you want to)
1. What have you most enjoyed about my blog during this first year? (Reviews, Interviews, etc, etc)
2. Do you think there is anything I can improve on? Let me know any suggestions you might have.
3. What are some things you would like to see on the blog for year two?
They are all pretty basic, I just wanted to get some opinions from you all about it and see what I could do a little differently this next year to make things more fun for you all. You don't have to answer them if you don't want to though, it's completely optional.
I just really want to say thank you to all of you for making this first year of blogging so awesome and enjoyable. To celebrate this first year of blogging, I am going to be hosting a giveaway for an ARC of The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I ended up with an extra copy, so I figured this would be a great time to post a giveaway for it. I wish I was able to do some huge giveaway like some people do, but I just can't do that right now. I hope you all will be happy with this though.

1. What have you most enjoyed about my blog during this first year? (Reviews, Interviews, etc, etc)
I like everything! I haven't been following you the whole year but as a new book blogger I look up to anyone that has more experience than myself. You're doing awesome.
2. Do you think there is anything I can improve on? Let me know any suggestions you might have.
I would have said the design but I just noticed you changed it. I love it!
3. What are some things you would like to see on the blog for year two?
Hm, unique reviews maybe? It seems like everyone is doing the same reviews around the same time. I like seeing unique things that no one else is doing. :)
Happy blogoversary!
Happy Blogoversary! I don't think i have any suggestions for your blog, keep up the good work!
I love the new layout! I don't have any suggestions so keep up with what you are doing :)
A huge, huge, HUGE Happy Blog Birthday to you Justin! You have accomplished more in your first year of blogging than others (myself included) have accomplished during quite a few years. You should be extremely proud of what you've turned this into. I am so thankful for what you said! Having such nice words said and being listed among a great group of people has been an honor. Here's to another great year!!!
-Katelyn
Happy 1 year blog-o-versary sweetie! :) Time flies, right?! And you've been doing such a great job! Thank you soooo much for the shout-out, in truth I am the lucky one to know you! You're always kind, warm, cheerful and open-minded (plus patiently checked out all the Hillywood videos I sent your way the other day and that's, like, +1000 points to awesomeness!). I enjoy all your posts, but I especially love your reviews and interviews. You're always thorough and and honest, and when it comes to dealing with authors you're very professional and you ask really great questions! I don't think you should change anything, you're perfect just the way you are and that's we all love you! :) Oooh! I do love your event recaps.. all the pics are always so fun to check out! :) I know I've been bad at commenting recently, but that's only because I've been living with my in-laws for the past 6 months.. I am almost done moving to our new place so hopefully this will change soon! :)
Now, let me give you a huge hug and send some warm thoughts your way! Once again, HAPPY BLOG-O-VERSARY!!!! :D Here's to many successful years to come! *cheers*!
<3
Happy 1 year of blogging!!! I just started my blog a few months ago so I'm just getting the hang of it... yours is definitely a good one!!! :)
I loove the new design! I can't wait to say that my blog has been around for a year! Congratulations!
1. I love your books hauls. Most of the time, I can find something new in them.
2. Not any issues, really. Maybe more bold fonts and point form?
3. I would love to see more WoW posts and Top Ten Tuesdays...or even Fashion Friday.
Happy Blogoversary!! I'm so happy for you Justin! :-)
HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY, JUSTIN!
Congrats on making it through the first year! That ones the toughest. Lol.
Also, thanks for the kind words. I always love to hear that I helped someone get started blogging. And I'm in good company with all those other awesome bloggers. =)
Okay to answer your questions:
1. Interviews. Not many bloggers do interviews any more (including me) but I do love reading them. Keep up the good work on those! I know how hard it is to get them all set up.
2. Honestly I would have said your design but clearly you've already improved that. This design is so much better than your original design.
3. I think right now you post mainly reviews and interviews which are great but maybe a few more memes like WoW or Top Ten Tuesday. I always love checking those out.
Keep up the great work, Justin!
Awe!! Thank you so much for the kind words! I am sticking around, I have decided.. BUT, It will be on & off until I am done. =D
1. What have you most enjoyed about my blog during this first year? (Reviews, Interviews, etc, etc)
Interviews!!
2. Do you think there is anything I can improve on? Let me know any suggestions you might have.
You just nailed that with this new blog design ;-) It's so awesome! & so... YOU
3. What are some things you would like to see on the blog for year two?
More of a variety. You have a ton of reviews. Which is good, but add in some MEME's. It helps give your blog more variety. ;-)
=D.
Happy one year, Justin!

I love your reviews! I think you always do an awesome job.
2. Do you think there is anything I can improve on? Let me know any suggestions you might have.
Be sure to interact with your followers, via Twitter or visiting their blogs. You probably already do this, but that's just my advice in general!
3. What are some things you would like to see on the blog for year two?
More discussion posts and such! :)
Again...happy blog-o-versary!
Love your new layout ^^
I enjoy your reviews! Very well thought out!
Just keep doing what you do :]
Happy one year of blogging!
Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!
Happy Blogoversary!! <3
I think your blog is pretty nifty as is, especially the author interviews ... it's so much fun to learn about the real *minds* behind our favorite books! :D
Mary DeBorde M.A.D.
Happy one year anniverery!
1. What have you most enjoyed about my blog during this first year? (Reviews, Interviews, etc, etc)
Your review. I can help it, I just love to read blogger's reviews and I found yours relly fun to read.
2. Do you think there is anything I can improve on? Let me know any suggestions you might have.
Just keep doing what you're doing!
3. What are some things you would like to see on the blog for year two?
Maybe more revies about older books. I really like to find out about books I didn't pay attention years ago.
Congrats on your blog turning the BIG ONE! Great milestone. Of course, I enjoy the review and especially the giveaways. Keep it up. Great pics, too, of all the book readings and events you attend. Best of success in your second year!
I just started following you today so I can't really answer those questions but I can say thank you! You were so helpful with all of the questions I asked you and I really appreciate it! You're too kind. (:
It'd be nice if you could get more Author Interviews :)
I think u are doing an awesome job of blogging. Your blog is awesome. Thank you for hosting this giveaway !
Congrats! Keep on keepin you. Kick ass blog!
I love Maggie Stiefvater. I'm sure The Raven Boys will be just as amazing as her other books.
Wow! I can't believe it has been a year already! Congratz, Justin.
Congrats on 1 year!
1. I'm a new follower so I'd have to say my favorite thing so far has been this giveaway :)
2. One thing I like to suggest is to add a Goodreads and Amazon link to the review post in case I want to add the book to my TBR list or go ahead and buy it after I read your review.
3. Some of the things I enjoy most on blogs are deleted scenes and alternate POVs.
And great choice for your giveaway! Maggie Stiefvater is my favorite! I'll be checking back. Thanks!
